Story

Anthonij Rupert Wyne was founded on the farm L'Ormarins in Franschhoek. The winery was originally granted to the French Huguenot, Jean Roi in 1694 making it one of the oldest estates in South Africa. Later, the estate was bought by global business tycoon, Anton Rupert. His legacy was passed down to his son, Anthonij Rupert who cultivated the MCC that we know today. Due to an unfortunate car accident, Anthonij Rupert passed away in 2001 and the farm was taken over by his brother Johann Rupert in 2003. It was Johann Rupert who constructed a state-of-the-art winemaking facility on the estate in the name of his brother. The current winemaker is Zanie Viljoen.

Tasting Notes

For a sparkling wine with lively bubbles and citrus notes, pair it with "Smanie Implacabile" from Mozart’s “Cosi fan Tutti”. This aria, captures the stocatto of bubbles in the mouth. The wine’s vibrant citrus flavours and bright bubbles harmonize with the passion of the aria. The lively melody reflect the wine’s fresh character and elegant complexity, making this pairing ideal for moments of gusto.

Food Pairing

Due to its fresh notes, it pairs particularly well with oysters and green salads. Its flavours also make it an excellent companion for desserts like sponge cake or Crème brûlée.

Wine Makers Note

Grapes are selected and gently pressed. The fermentation of the base wines follows. After the assemblage of the sparkling wine, further aging follows on the basis of bottle storage, classic bottle fermentation. Subsequently, the Anthonij Rupert Wyne L'Ormarins Brut Classique matures for several months in the bottle and is finally disgorged.
