Story

This delicious sauvignon blanc is a everyday wine favourite on tables throughout the world – offering great value and superb drinking. Boekenhoutskloof Winery proudly named the range after the Crested Porcupine, a most unique and fascinating inhabitant of their farm.

Tasting Notes

Pair with Verdi's “Il lacerato spirito” from Simon Boccanegra. The aria’s intense emotional depth and dramatic tension mirror the wine’s vibrant citrus notes, with hints of tropical fruit and a crisp minerality. The balanced acidity and lingering finish of the wine complement the raw energy of the aria, creating a powerful and harmonious pairing. Not to mention the jagged ending reminicent of the acidity on the palate and porcupine quills on the label.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs wonderfully with dishes like grilled asparagus with lemon vinaigrette, a fresh summer salad topped with goat cheese and citrus dressing. For something heartier, consider a herb-crusted chicken breast or a vegetable risotto with a touch of lemon zest

Wine Makers Note

The 2023 Sauvignon Blanc is made from grapes harvested from vineyards in Robertson, Stellenbosch and as far afield as the West Coast. These vineyards are picked at different ripeness levels to achieve a supple and round yet focused wine with balanced acidity. Fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature conditions before blending. No acidification during any stage of vinification.
