(l)Equinox, Low Drama, Rosé, 2023
Story
MC Stander started (l)Equinox Winery in 2019 with the vision of creating wines that embody the universe's natural balance. Biodynamic viticultural practices, fresh and well-structured wines, and balance between intentional winemaking and not taking life too seriously.
Tasting Notes
This natural wine made with minimal intervention, is vegan-friendly, and pours a deep, darker hue. Vibrant notes of cherry, plum, and hibiscus often descibed as rustic, characterful, and wild. Best paired with a modern opera aria like John Cage’s Aria (1958)—a piece as spontaneous and expressive as the wine itself, both unfolding with unpredictable interest and emotional intensity.
Food Pairing
This wine pairs well with fresh watermelon and feta salad.
Winemaker’s Note
This Rosé is made with no additives except a small dose of sulphur with grapes coming from dyland bush vines in Paardeberg, Swartland. Grapes are whole-bunch pressed into tank for initial fermentation, then racked 1–2 times to remove gross lees. They’re transferred to old 225L barrels for malolactic fermentation and aging, and bottled at the end of winter.
Harvested early for freshness, acidity, and lower alcohol.
Delivery 3-7 working days
